Pastor Gideon Nzioka Makuthi, the founder of Salama Kenya Baptist Ministries and the Salama Baptist Church hails from the eastern part of kenya. He and his wife Grace Minoo started the Salama Baptist Church 30 years ago in a town that many Christian leaders believed was unreachable. Through God’s provision they have seen the church grow and begin to greatly impact their community and country at large. Gideon went to be with the Lord on April 25th 2018 and left the great work which is continuing under the watch of His Son Pastor Moses and His wife Grace.
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19
NKJVThey have also planted churches and trained leaders leading to 21 new churches in various parts of Kenya. SKBM is also outreaching in Maasai Land, Rombo, Alamaiana and Senet right at the interior of Maasai community. There they have planted 2 churches, started an orphan feeding programme of 35 orphans. They also oversee a widows project of 20 Maasai widows.
They intend to build a rescue center for the Maasai Girls who are forced into early marriages and female genital mutilation which is highly rampant in this community. we appeal for Well-wishers, helpers to assist reach this goal.
They are currently reaching with the gospel at the tharaka area of Kenya, one of the unreached communities of the world under the 10 – 40 window. Tharaka is classified as an hardship and Unreached areas of kenya, there they have started 4 indigenous churches, a need for a medical facility, water bore hole is required urgently, a need to start helping the Tharakans on agriculture, women genital mutilation, family planning, HIV and AIDS education is long overdue.
Through these and various other ministries, God has greatly used Gideon and Grace (the Makuthis) to bring the light of the gospel and the hope of Jesus Christ to an area of spiritual darkness, overwhelming poverty and HIV/AIDS infestation. Often their work takes them to lands of dire need, areas so remote that services we consider necessities do not exist. There is no electricity or drinkable water. Medicine and doctors are in short supply if available at all. Gideon recalls when the Lord called him into ministry, he said to him to spread His word in Salama, the surrounding areas and to the ends of the earth, using any available means within his reach, he remembers the scripture the Lord spoke to him through
