Children’s Home
Tunawajali is a Swahili word meaning “we care”. Swahili is the national language spoken in Kenya. The orphanage/childrens Home ministry started when SKBM ministry started evangelising the surrounding environs thereby coming into conduct with left alone orphans and uncared for children.
It became very difficult to reach out to these needy children with the gospel who had no food, a home, clothing, medication and other life necessities. SKBM then took these children to Salama Baptist church where we started taking care of them, they became our children and we became their parents, that’s how it all started. The orphanage/children’s home started just like that with very many unattended needs, to date the orphanage has 35 orphans who have no sponsors. We have other 75 orphans outside whom we have identified and whom we will consider to join our our Home/orphanage when we are able.
We are looking for partners, sponsors or well wishers for these needy orphans, we need help to finish constructing a permanent home for the orphans, one for girls and another for boys and a dinning hall and a Christian Academy for our young children. we are currently facing challenges of upkeep as our country especially our region (eastern Kenya) is facing famine and lack of rain. we need assistance to enable us fence with perimeter wall land which we acquired recently where we can now grow food, we also need help to enable us equip a borehole drilled at that land. with drilled water at this property, problem of food will be a story of the past, may the GOD of heaven hear this our prayer.
How You Can Participate
Teams are welcome and encouraged to come help finish the boys and girls dorms and christian academy for the SKBM Orphans. The Home/orphanage is located at Tangu just short distance from Salama Township. The visit to finish the orphanage and academy centre can be coupled with a safari to the great Maasai Mara or Amboseli or Tsavo in-conjunction with one of the Kenya rentable tours and safaris company. The Maasai Mara is famous because of the Maasai tribe who live amongst the wildlife as they share the land with the lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalos and all the game. To come and help build the orphanage and academy for the orphans, please reach out to us with your details as below shown and email the same to us,

The Stories of the Children
Mary Mumo
Children's Home Alumni“I Joined Salama Kenya Baptist Ministries Children's Home after the passing on of my biological mum in 2009 December that was after my KCPE exams. Through their help I managed to go through my high school education. They encouraged me to work hard in school so as to secure an opportunity to join the University after high school. One thing I loved about the Children Ministry is how it’s run by God fearing People, So they not only gave me an opportunity for studies but also to know more about God.”

Indeed this is my best Home were one can ever come across for it’s a place with every Christian virtue and God fearing leaders. I am privileged to have grown up here. I am now a family Man married and blessed with a Son and earning a living by Serving God in a Church and Ministry at the coast of Kenya Mombasa.
